Can you be an Army nurse for returning soldiers? (not in combat zones)

You can, but you go where the army needs you. You may have something called a dream sheet- but nothing is guaranteed.
2 :
Not really. If you're actually an army nurse (i.e. in the army), you'll be occasionally deployed to combat zones. When you're not deployed to combat zones, you'll be stationed near an army base somewhere, still working as a nurse. If you want to be a nurse for recently discharged soldiers, you can become a nurse for a VA clinic but this will probably only be with military personnel who made a career out of it, to be eligible for VA benefits.
3 :
yes you can. line units do not have nurses, we have no need for them. the nurses that do deploy do so with CSH's, which stay on base and never leave the wire. most nurses however work in stateside hospitols. when it comes to recruiting for AMEDD, the army is pretty quick to please, and im sure you'll be able to get choice of duty assignment in your contract.

Where do you nurse baby in public

Where do you nurse baby in public?
Last night we went to Walmart, and of course my 4 month old decided she was hungry right in the middle of the shopping trip. As it's in the 30's outside I didn't want to take her back out to the car, then come back in when we were done. I looked in the bathroom to see if there was someplace to nurse. Nope, just toilets. I asked an employee who said there was a family bathroom in the back. She said there was a chair too. I go back there and open the door. UGH!!!!!!!!! The bathroom is large and accommodating but stinks to high heaven of you know what. It looks filthy. To top it off, no chair. There is no way I'm going to sit on that toilet to nurse. Outside the restroom is a nice bench. However, it is a high traffic area and people kept walking by, especially male employees. I didn't know what to do. Finally I noticed in the baby section there were a couple of seats (like you would sit on to try on shoes). I sat there and nursed my daughter. I was covered with my nursing cover and a blanket. But lots of people still looked at me like I was naked. Then to top it all off, my husband comes over and tells me that I am sitting right underneath a video surveillance camera!!!! Why is it so hard to find a private place to nurse? When I visited Germany, there were places everywhere, and people didn't look at you like you were doing a bad thing!!!!!!!!

Places like Babies R Us and Belks have 'nursing rooms' which are great, but if I am somewhere like Walmart that doesn't I go in the fitting rooms. You would think a company as large as Walmart could have a space designated for nursing.
2 :
It might be a better idea if you try and time your shopping trips around your daughters feeding schedule. You always have the option of feeding her before you leave and again when you get back.
3 :
Who cares? It's not a big deal nursing in public. People in America are very odd about breast feeding. Just keep a blanket or nursing cover with you and walk around like your not doing anything strange. BECAUSE YOUR NOT! :) Congrats on breast feeding. Also do NOT structure your life around feeding time... that's rediculous. Go on as life as usual when your babies hungry, he/she is hungry. Your not a prisoner b/c you've decided to breast feed. Your a wonderfull mother.

Well, I remember my mother nursing in places like walmart. She just put the changing pad on the bathroom floor and sat on it and nursed there. You need to quit being so picky. I don't know how many times I've seen mother sitting on the bathroom floor and nursing or even standing in the restroom and nursing. If you can't handle being just like every other nursing mother in the world without any special privileges or accommodations, you may need to either stay close to the house or quit nursing!
5 :
Next time if you are uncomfortable, go to the dressing room. You have the legal right to do it anywhere you choose (at least in my state). Way to go Momma for choosing the best nutrition for your little one..let them stare, it's a beautiful thing!
6 :
Walmart sucks behind for nursing friendliness. The few times I've nursed in Walmart, it was on the bench by the lay-away desk. Nobody said a thing to me, I got a few looks but I smiled back at them and they turned their head right away. North Americans are prudes and only think of breasts as sexual, unless they happen to be a nursing or formerly nursing mother.
7 :
my cousin had to do almost the same thing and one lady got mad ans yelled at her in walmart. my cousin said " everyone else eats in public, well so can my son leave me alone. its not your business." lady left her alone. i dont know why some people have an issue with it. its one of the most natural things in the world.

best thing i can tell you is bathrooms is your only option when in a resteraunt i would go the handicapped so you have more room. also in malls and shopping stores i would go to the dressing or fitting rooms its private usually doesnt smell and you have a place to sit. if your driving down the road pull to a parking lot towards the end of the isles and lots away from other cars and do it in your car you may want to have a blanket handy in case someone walks by or something.

There are not wounded troops in Germany, there is no war going on there.
2 :
Some of his big money supporters would not want him seen as supporting the military, would be my guess. So, he went to the Ritz Carlton for a workout. Much more important.
3 :
well ur right, prob disappointed some but thrilled others...cuz the last thing i want when im laid up in the hospital is freakin Barack LUNCH-BOX Obama walking in my room stuttering and spitting all over me and my freakin I.V. tube...ugh, yuck!
4 :
Scheduling conflict? I only know the silly season is called that for a reason.
5 :
He can't visit everybody...I think it's great that at least he's there talking and trying to touch as many people lives as he can! Look at old man McCain...he's here talking about how he doesn't want to visit anyone until he's THE president...well it's not gonna happen unless you get your old lazy butt out there!!!
6 :
Because he can't handle the troops on any level. He is an opportunist and chose to try and emulate Kennedy and Reagan by speaking near the old Berlin Wall. What a boon.
7 :
Troops are just little people in the minds of elitist liberals. They don't count according to liberals.
8 :
He had to get back to his hotel and work out...didn't you hear?
9 :
Germany has a very large vet hospice for Iraqi troops and the reason he did not go was he said it is not right to be campaigning and visit troops. Too bad this trip is not campaigning. There are no votes to be won in Germany. He will have to do better than that.
10 :
And next you can complain that the secret service protection is costing too much: he needs to go more places and have less protection seems to be the theme of the day. You all are starting to sound like nags.
11 :
Curious is uninformed about wounded soldiers who are sent to Germany for treatment. I of all people an not an Obama fan but the Pentagon is now taking for not allowing Obama to visit the troops which is "fishy" but Obama did not increase his popularity with the military during his "visit' he just cemented his dislike of the military.
12 :
He knew you needed some new material to bash him with. Your proof is so convincing
13 :
Sadly, because Osama I mean Obama thinks they are traitors and he doesn't believe their sacrifices are worthwhile. This is just the latest proof he is TOTALLY UNPATRIOTIC! Peace

yes there is thats where all our injured from iraq and afganistan go.
2 :
"The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is an overseas military hospital operated by the United States Army and the Department of Defense. LRMC is the largest military hospital outside of the continental United States. It is located near Landstuhl, Germany, and serves as the nearest treatment center for wounded soldiers coming from Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, it serves military personnel stationed in Germany as well as their family members. A large proportion of serious casualties from the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters are treated here, flown in via Ramstein Air Base." wiki I don't know where they would station you but I am sure if you got a BSN you could join the Army and I bet they would honor that assignment.

You go where they need you, and they really don't care if you can speak German or not. You may end up at Landstuhl or you may end up at Ft. Leavenworth, or you may end up somewhere else! I'm not sure about the Army, but I know that AF officer corp only stays in place for 2 - 3 years, and the medical corp is not allowed to get an in-place consecutive overseas tour. (IPCOT)
