This is A Army Spouse Question, Please only answer if you know for sure or might have a idea

This is A Army Spouse Question, Please only answer if you know for sure or might have a idea.?
Okay so my husband and I are stationed in Germany and he will be deploying June 09' down range to Iraq. I got accepted into nursing school which starts in May 09' and is a year long so its awesome that it kinda ends when his deployment ends but we are having problems. We know there is a program for spouses who go stateside for school but our finance office ect wont tell us what it is and they told us the only way for me to go home and for me to get BAH is to ERROD me and I want to be able to come back after school and if I do that I cannot come back to Germany especially if he gets stop loss which they are expecting. Anyone who knows please help! It would truely be appreciated. Thanks!

hey, my husband is currently stationed in germany, his unit told him that if they wanted to have the spouse go back to the states they could ERD them back there... but then once he gets back he would have to re apply for command sponorship.... so its going to be a pain in the butt to do it. Your best bet would be to contact jag and ask them what your options are, or your husbands unit if they have any idea on what you can do... hope that help
2 :
If the two of you are in Germany, then you are likely on a three your tour. Sometimes (not always) when a married Soldier ERODs his spouse, his tour gets shortened to two years, like single Soldiers. If that is too big a risk for you to take, then you can also keep your government housing, forget the BAH and live stateside out of pocket.

thats bs my hubby is in sweinfurt germany in army and most wives go back home anyways threw deployment to be with family yes they would errod you but will be able to go back but doont take ppl advise here u need to get it straight with military and they need to tell u u will be able to come back the military is twisted its like each base makes there own rules up and gets by with it so i would have them tell me but typically you would b able to go back to germany

Once you ERD you can NOT return to Germany on the Army's dime. They will NOT pay for any of it should you decided to go back after the deployment is over. They can request it but the chanc eof it being approved is little to none and if they do approve it he has to stay there another 24 months after you return. If you ERD you give up OHA and it is switched back to BAH based on the location where they send you. Your husband would have to do the remainder of any tour he has there without you, he gets stop lossed then he has to still stay there even though you ERD'd. If you go back it will be on your own dime in both directions because when he goes to PCS his orders are NOT going to include you from Germany because you has already ERD'd to stateside. They will cover your HHG being moved from the location that you stated in the ERD to the new assignment and nothing more. Here is some offical info on ERD for Germany. http://www.imcom-europe.army.mil/sfac/admin/EROD%20memo%203rd%20version.pdf
5 :
cannot be done.. if you use Early Return of dependents to get the move paid for, you lose command sponsorship and SOFA status and cannot return to Germany. using ERD, you can get BAH based on your location. if you choose to go home on your own dime: You lose your Government quarters (or OHA) at 30 days, you lose COLA after 30 days and would be required to pay for the storage of your HHG. you also will NOT be granted priority access to Tricare facilities Stateside.

There is a program called Military Spouse Career Advancement but that was only offered in a few states at a few bases and is limited to $3000 for 2 years only in certain programs. Nursing is not one of them, nor is it offered at any overseas base. There is a program through Army Services & Navy Marine Relief Society in which you might qualify for a semester scholarship and they are only offered outside the 50 states. It is around $400 a semester and that is all, you must reapply for it each time. The only way that you will qualify for BAH if you do go back to the US is if you do an ERD - Early Return of Dependents. The military will pay for the move to the location you want and you will get BAH for that area. You will lose the place you have in Germany, you will lose Command Sponsorship so you will not be able to return and live in housing in Germany. he will lose COLA for you, have to live in barracks when he returns, etc...

To answer your initial question, because they've become such an integral part of our lives. We can no longer imagine how to live without cell-phones, and are getting to that same point with wi-fi. And while we might recognise a risk, it's such a long-term thing that it doesn't really bother most people. The immediate benefits seem to far outweigh the long-term risks.

A bit like asking why do people smoke when they know it can cause cancer. It is something people have been used to and are not willing to do without. Now go and practise your football you will need to be good to beat lavey next year.

Lets talk facts, not fear. There are NO clinical studies that shows any relationship between exposure to RF fields as a bio-hazard. There is alot of speculation, and bad press, but not one clinical study. Here are some facts: Amateur radio operators, folks who are routinely exposed to RF fields 1000 times stronger then a cell phone for periods as long as fifty years do not show any higher incidence of cancer or any other disease as a group compared to the general population. In fact it is lower. People who work in the broadcast industry at transmitter sites where the exposure amounts are on the order of 10,000 times have the same health histories as amateur radio operators. The same is true for people who work on cell towers as a group. The same cannot be said for x-ray technicians, people who work at nuke plants, and other high nuclear type radiation workers. Hysterical people and the media are confusing RF energy and nuclear radiation. The truth is RF energy is not the same as nuclear radiation. Gamma & X-rays break down molecules by stripping away electrons. RF energy only causes heating of tissue in the worst case situation. The amount of heating at its worst with any modern consumer electronics is about 1000 times less than the heating you experience standing in a sunny place. It about 500 times less then the what you get from standing next to a radiator. Tissue damage from direct contact with a radiator (antenna) will burn much in the same fashion as a soldering iron if the antenna has thousands of watts radiating from it. The average cell phone put out milliwatts - minuscule in comparison. Actually if you hold a piece of Granite in your hand it is most likely more hazardous than a cell phone, since most Granites emit gamma radiation. Do you have granite in your home, maybe your kitchen counter-top? If you do then you have a radioactive counter-top! Is it enough to hurt you ... hmmm The ARRL comment above is taken out of context and in the complete text talks about the exaggerated risk of exposure to RF. Same for the quote from NIOSH. The EPA quote is a complete reversal, since the EPA reports actually says that the hysteria and "media coverage is seriously flawed in its basis", not the FCC standards. The FCC understands the lack of risks, the media hype and subsequent public hysteria about an issue that in reality has not been shown to exist in any study conducted. And there have been many studies conducted, all inconclusive. I see no studies in the above text, just hysterical responses by certain groups, and government reports taken out of context.
